Sam joined the staff in 2009, the third in a line of Assistants recruited from the Mennonite Church USA. He plays a supportive role in the whole range of Bridge Builders’ work but mostly in administration and training.
Sam worships at Wood Green Mennonite Church in North London. He grew up in Vermont, and studied psychology and conflict studies at Goshen College, Indiana (a Mennonite university). After graduating in 2007, he worked for the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, a shelter for homeless animals, in the Mennonite Voluntary Service programme. He was then recruited to work with Bridge Builders, and was sponsored by the Mennonite Mission Network.
Sam’s upbringing gave him roots in the Mennonite Church and a passion for exercise. He joined a cross country team at Goshen, took up cycling in Boulder, and now runs in London. Other exercise includes hiking, walking, playing tennis, downhill skiing, and swimming. Some day he hopes to complete an ironman triathlon. Sam also enjoys playing guitar, card games, board games, and making camp fires.
