Just Remind Me? Ouch! Those spiky comments! How might I handle them differently?

Want to refresh some of the key ideas from TC1?

This workshop is designed for people who have previously completed a Bridge Builders Transforming Conflict 1/Transforming Church Conflict course. It’s one of a series called Just Remind Me?, offering opportunities to refresh and build on some of the key ideas from the foundation course and embed those ideas in our practice and local context.

Build on the foundation

Being on the receiving end of seemingly barbed comments, in person, or via email, is a constant challenge. They often seem to catch us at the most inopportune moments or when we are short of energy or patience. Sometimes it seems there are only two options – absorb or hit back – both of which are emotionally costly and neither of which address the deepest concerns of those involved.

This short workshop will be an opportunity to think again about “changing the focus” of these conversations; to explore what options might be appropriate in any given context; what might lie behind the spiky comments that come our way; and how we might manage our own anxious responses to seek something constructive in what seems destructive;

Alongside input on the topic, there will be opportunity to reflect with others in a small group on your own context and experiences and to work on practical examples.

Book for this workshop if you found the insights on communication and reframing introduced in the foundation course helpful, and if you would like to explore about what it looks like for you to work at these insights in practice.
