Want more practice at mediation?

This workshop is designed for people who have previously completed a Bridge Builders mediation training course. If opportunities to mediate do not come frequently enough to keep you familiar with the process, this is a chance to build your confidence.

Build on the foundation

The Bridge Builders course Mediating Interpersonal Conflicts teaches a process that can be seen as a basic recipe. It’s best to practice it as it stands, at first.

Experience is the key. The best way of learning how to use the process effectively is to keep using it, and to watch others using it. That’s why the main training-tool for this workshop is role-play. You face a unique scenario, but the shape of the process remains the same.

Book for this workshop if you’re already convinced that mediation can make a valuable difference in the life of the church, and you want to renew your determination to be part of the difference.

Programme

Running from 9.30am to 4.30pm, the programme includes worship, presentation, practical experience.

Main elements of the day:

• A refresher on basic ideas of mediation
• Demonstration of some advanced skills
• Participation in an extended role-play, with a demanding scenario
• A forum for sharing experience with others, and discussing typical challenges.

Trainers

Colin Patterson is Assistant Director of Bridge Builders, and an Anglican priest. He has worked as a training officer for the Diocese of Durham, and is an experienced adult educator. Author of the Grove booklet How to Learn Through Conflict, he is also a contributor to 101 Great Ideas for Growing Health Churches.

Colin Moulds is Executive Director of Bridge Builders. He has been providing training, mediation and consultancy services in both the workplace and churches since 2009. Colin’s experience in leadership and management is built from 23 years with the world’s largest mobile telecommunications provider.

Venue

High Leigh Conference Centre, Hoddesdon, Herts EN11 8SG.

The centre specialises in residential and day conferences and is set in 40 acres of grounds. Bed and breakfast is available the night before the course for £54.60, by direct arrangement with High Leigh.

Cost and Cancellation    

The cost of the workshop is £65, payable in full at the time of booking. The fee covers lunch, refreshments and materials. Cancellations before Monday 24 October will receive a 50% refund. Thereafter no refund will be provided. Please see our terms and conditions.

To book, add a ticket to your cart below. You will receive an acknowledgement, but the booking will not be processed until Bridge Builders receives payment of the fee.
