Just Remind Me? When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Reflect On Their Own Functioning

June 19 @ 10:00 - 12:45

£30.00

Course Introduction

Want to refresh some of the key ideas from TC1?

This workshop is designed for people who have previously completed a Bridge Builders Transforming Conflict 1/Transforming Church Conflict course. It’s one of a series called Just Remind Me?, offering opportunities to refresh and build on some of the key ideas from the foundation course and embed those ideas in our practice and local context.

Build on the foundation

When the pressure builds from a sudden crisis, or from the slow ramping up of tension or demands for more, it’s easy to look for quick external fixes. Working harder or longer; shifting the responsibility (or blame) on to others; “pushing through” because as this difficult time is bound to end eventually. Perhaps the most counter intuitive thing to do when time is in such short supply, is to pause and to look at our functioning and our own responses. What is actually going on here and how can I respond wisely and appropriately?

Drawing on insights from family systems and models on understanding change,  this short workshop will be an opportunity to reflect on how we navigate the difficult terrain of uncertainty; the emotional processes that generate demands for quick solutions, and how we, as leaders, get caught in and learn to resist spirals of reactivity. We’ll explore what resources we might draw on to discern what needs our attention and how saying “no” or “wait” might lead to change in our own functioning and impact more significant cultural change in our communities.

Book for this workshop if you found you wish to develop your understanding of emotional processes and how less reactive leadership can bring wider transformation in relationships and communities.
